Online Application Process

  • Visit the IGNOU Student Zone: Go to the IGNOU Student Zone website
  • Login/Register: Login with your existing credentials or register if you are a new user.
  • Go to “Scholarships and Fee Reimbursement”: In the “My IGNOU” section, click on “Scholarships and Fee Reimbursement.”
  • Choose “Fee Reimbursement for SC/ST”: Select the appropriate option for your category (SC or ST).
  • Fill the Application Form: Carefully fill in the details required, including personal information, programme details, fee structure, bank account details, and upload the necessary documents.
  • Review and Submit: Review all the information entered, ensure everything is accurate, and submit the application.
  • Print Acknowledgement Slip: Download and print the acknowledgement slip for future reference.

Documents Required

  • IGNOU student identity card (auto-generated or issued by your Regional Centre)
  • Self-attested copy of your Caste Certificate issued by the appropriate authority as mentioned in the Common Prospectus.
  • Bank passbook details (your account must be in your own name)
  • Duly filled and signed application form (the format might vary slightly depending on your Regional Centre)

Claiming the Reimbursement

  • Eligible students will receive a notification: If your application is approved, you will receive a notification via email and an SMS message on your registered mobile number.
  • Fee Refund: The reimbursed amount will be directly credited to your nominated bank account within a few weeks of the approval.

Types of Fee Exemptions

  • National Merit Scholarship (NMS): Awarded to meritorious students scoring top ranks in Class 12 or IGNOU’s Bachelor’s Degree programmes. Provides complete fee exemption for the chosen programme.
  • IGNOU Merit Scholarship (IMS): Offered to IGNOU students who excel in their studies. Covers tuition fees for subsequent semesters/years based on achievements in the previous semester/year.
  • Faculty/Staff Child Concession: Children of IGNOU faculty and staff members are eligible for a 50% concession on tuition fees for most programmes.
  • Defence Personnel Concession: Serving and retired personnel from the Indian Armed Forces, Paramilitary Forces, and Coast Guard, along with their spouses and children, can avail a 50% fee concession on most programmes.
  • Differently Abled (DA) Concession: Students with disabilities certified by a competent authority are entitled to a 100% fee waiver for most programmes.

Eligibility Criteria

National Merit Scholarship (NMS)

  • Secured top 1% rank in Class 12 examination from a recognized board.
  • Minimum 70% aggregate marks in Class 12 for Humanities/Social Sciences and 65% for Science/Commerce streams.
  • Enrolled in IGNOU’s Bachelor’s Degree programme within one year of Class 12 results.

IGNOU Merit Scholarship (IMS)

  • Secured First Division (minimum 60% aggregate marks) in the previous semester/year of your IGNOU programme.
  • No backlogs or disciplinary actions against you.
  • Continued enrollment in the same programme for the next semester/year.

Faculty/Staff Child Concession

  • Child of a regular faculty member or staff member of IGNOU.
  • Enrolled in any IGNOU programme except certificate courses or programmes offered through special arrangements.

Defence Personnel Concession

  • Serving or retired personnel from the Indian Armed Forces, Paramilitary Forces, or Coast Guard.
  • Spouses and children of eligible personnel.
  • No minimum academic qualification required.
