Q1. Briefly discuss the Greenhouse effect on the earth. Explain how globalization is responsible for large scale disruption of ecosystems

This enhanced greenhouse effect intensifies the warming of the Earth, leading to global climate change. The consequences include rising temperatures, melting ice caps, sea level rise, extreme weather events, and disruptions to ecosystems.
Globalization and Ecosystem Disruption:
Globalization refers to the interconnectedness and interdependence of countries through the exchange of goods, services, information, and ideas on a global scale. While globalization has brought about economic growth and cultural exchange, it has also led to large-scale disruption of ecosystems.
- Trade and Transportation: Increased global trade has expanded the movement of goods across borders. This involves transportation methods that contribute to air and water pollution, habitat destruction, and the introduction of invasive species into new environments. This can disrupt local ecosystems and threaten native species.
- Deforestation for Agriculture: The demand for agricultural products on a global scale has driven extensive deforestation, particularly in tropical regions. Large-scale clearing of forests for agriculture not only reduces biodiversity but also releases stored carbon into the atmosphere, contributing to the greenhouse effect.
- Climate Change: Globalization is closely linked to increased industrialization and the burning of fossil fuels. This, in turn, contributes to the release of greenhouse gases, exacerbating climate change. Changes in temperature and precipitation patterns can disrupt ecosystems by altering the distribution of species, affecting migration patterns, and causing shifts in habitat suitability.
- Overexploitation of Resources: Global markets often drive the overexploitation of natural resources, including fisheries and forests. Unsustainable harvesting practices can lead to the depletion of species and ecosystems, threatening biodiversity and ecosystem services.
