HPPSC SET Exam Pattern 2020

The State Eligibility Test is split into two papers. Total marks of SET are 300. The papers are objective type. The test are going to be held within the month of March/April 2020 Tentatively. The test are going to be conduct only in at some point . In these two papers, each question will carry 2 marks. Candidates need to attempt the examination in OMR sheet. The marks distribution is given below:-

Paper I – it shall be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching or research aptitude of the candidate. In paper I the commission will test reasoning ability, comprehension, out-of-the-box thinking and general awareness of the candidate. All questions are compulsory.

Paper II – Subject of Paper II is predicated on the candidate’s preference. All questions are compulsory during this paper.

Teaching Aptitude:

  • Teaching: Concept, Objectives, Levels of teaching (Memory, Understanding and Reflective), Characteristics and basic requirements.
  • Learner’s characteristics: Characteristics of adolescent and adult learners (Academic, Social, Emotional and Cognitive), Individual differences.
  • Factors affecting teaching related to: Teacher, Learner, Support material, Instructional facilities, Learning environment and Institution.
  • Methods of teaching in Institutions of upper learning: Teacher centred vs. Learner centred methods; Off-line vs. On-line methods (Swayam, Swayamprabha, MOOCs etc.).
  • Teaching Support System: Traditional, Modern and ICT based.
  • Evaluation Systems: Elements and kinds of evaluation, Evaluation in Choice Based system in education , Computer based testing, Innovations in evaluation systems.

Research Aptitude:

  • Research: Meaning, Types, and Characteristics, Positivism and Post positivistic approach to research.
    Methods of Research: Experimental, Descriptive, Historical, Qualitative and Quantitative methods.
    Steps of Research.
  • Thesis and Article writing: Format and designs of referencing.
  • Application of ICT in research.
  • Research ethics.

Comprehension:

  • A passage of text tend . Questions be asked from the passage to be answered.

Communication:

  • Communication: Meaning, types and characteristics of communication.
  • Effective communication: Verbal and Non-verbal, Inter-Cultural and group communications, Classroom communication.
  • Barriers to effective communication.
  • Mass-Media and Society.

Mathematical Reasoning and Aptitude:

  • Types of reasoning.
  • Number series, Letter series, Codes and Relationships.
  • Mathematical Aptitude (Fraction, Time & Distance, Ratio, Proportion and Percentage, Profit and Loss, Interest and Discounting, Averages etc.)

Logical Reasoning:

  • Understanding the structure of arguments: argument forms, structure of categorical propositions, Mood and Figure, Formal and Informal fallacies, Uses of language, Connotations and denotations of terms, Classical square of opposition.
  • Evaluating and distinguishing deductive and generalization .
    Analogies.
  • Venn diagram: Simple and multiple use for establishing validity of arguments.
  • Indian Logic: Means of data .
  • Pramanas: Pratyaksha (Perception), Anumana (Inference), Upamana (Comparison), Shabda (Verbal testimony), Arthapatti (Implication) and Anupalabddhi (Non-apprehension).
  • Structure and sorts of Anumana (inference), Vyapti (invariable relation), Hetvabhasas (fallacies of inference).

Data Interpretation:

  • Sources, acquisition and classification of knowledge .

Top 6% of the appearing candidates should secure a minimum of following aggregate marks in both the papers are going to be qualified in SET Exam 2020-20 –
